Consumers advised to avoid raw eggs
The European Union food standards agency (EFSA) has advised consumers to avoid eating raw eggs and to cook poultry thoroughly to prevent the spread of bird flu. Health experts say that the H5 and H7 strains of the virus are rendered inactive after being exposed to 60c for 30 minutes. At present there is no evidence to prove that the virus can be transmitted through food
