Potential Volvic bottled water contamination found
The BBC Working Lunch programme has told today that a member of the public has reported a potential contamination of two bottles of Volvic mineral water. The consumer contacted the Food Standards Agency but they could not take it any further as they claimed that water is not a food, so an independent laboratory test detected Napthalenes in the water. They are not toxic in low levels but can cause damage to the red blood cells in the body if consumed in large quantities. The owners of Volvic have said that this is an isolated incident and that they have not received any other reported problems with the batch. They are investigating the incident
